SBS Insight: The Sceptics →
This probably isn’t for everyone, but I’m totally fascinated watching the late climate scientist Stephen Schneider take on an audience of 50 global warming skeptics on Australian TV.

Anger as a Private Company Takes Over Libraries →
“There’s this American flag, apple pie thing about libraries,” said Frank A. Pezzanite, the outsourcing company’s chief executive. He has pledged to save $1 million a year in Santa Clarita, mainly by cutting overhead and replacing unionized employees. “Somehow they have been put in the category of a sacred organization.”

Great storytelling. Do watch the whole animation. It’s about 3 minutes. And then click around the website. It’s all about the change you can affect by helping even one young girl out of poverty. (via @calinative)

If you can spare some time or money, this is a good day to do something to help people live together better. Here are a few small ideas I had:
Learn about how people live in a place you’ve never been. Tell your friends what you’ve learned.
Attend a service for a religion that isn’t yours. (Tomorrow could also be a good day for this.)
Volunteer.

Flood victims in Pakistan still have no aid, and they’re desperate and angry. And “the anger itself is hampering relief efforts, with the Red Cross twice halting distributions after being confronted by mobs of people upset...
